Background of Program

Occupational therapists are a vital part of today’s health teams, helping people to meet their personal goals after illness or injury. It is an exciting area of practice which recognizes the potential of each person and enables individuals to achieve health, wellbeing and life satisfaction through participation in meaningful activity. 

Diploma in Occupational Therapy started in April 2014, with just 12 students, and 2 staff members. With continuous growth and enhancement, as of 2022, we have received more and more numbers of students to enroll in this program.  

 The program has continually reviewed the curriculum to improve the standards of teaching-learning methodologies in order to meet the current needs.

Competently apply knowledge, skills and attitudes in occupational therapy process in order to practices safely, effectively and ethically client centred care in diverse practise context
PEO 2
Resume leadership role in collaboration with professionals, organization and community through effective communication in providing quality occupational therapy services
PEO 3
Utilise clinical reasoning strategies by exploring new scientific skills in Information Communication Technologies (ICT) to enhance the quality of occupational therapy and health care service locally and globally
PEO 4
Practices ethics and professional code of conduct in provision of occupational therapy services and explore entrepreneurship opportunities in health care industries locally and globally

Admission Requirements

SPM level: 

Pass Bahasa Malaysia and English with 5 credits in the subject:

  • Mathematics**
  • 1 science subject (Biology, Physics, Chemistry, Science, Applied Science)
  • Any 3 Subjects (including Bahasa Malaysia and English if it’s a credit)

 

**Applicants who do not achieve a minimum of Grade C (Credit) in Mathematics at the SPM level must attend and pass the Enhancement Class for Mathematics (ECM) course offered by UniMAIWP before commencing their diploma studies at the Faculty of Health Sciences. Contact us at: fhs@unimaiwp.edu.my
