Background of Program

The Medical Laboratory Technology Program shall prepare our graduates with sense of responsibilities, efficient, dedication and equipped with compassionate, holistic patient-care and continuous professional development. With integrity and ethics, we shall serve the nation and the environment with creative ideas without compromising on our responsibilities.

Medical laboratory technology is health care based discipline involving laboratory investigations related to diagnosis, treatment and prevention of disease. Perform various sophisticated tests to analyze a variety of samples blood, urine, sputum, tissues and other body fluid.

Medical Laboratory Technicians perform routine laboratory testing or in research laboratory and assigned tasks with quality control and quality assurance. That covers in all areas of the clinical laboratory including Blood banking, Clinical chemistry, Hematology, Immunology, Histopathology, Cytology and Microbiology.

Program Educational Objectives (PEO)

PEO     Description
PEO 1
Provide graduates who are able to uphold MLT position with knowledge [PLO 1] and competently to process and perform analysis [PLO 2 & PLO 3] in the various disciplines in Medical Laboratory Technology.
PEO 2
Produce graduates who are able to demonstrate sensitivities and responsibilities towards nation society [PLO 8] and exhibit professional integrity with the existing regulations and ethical norms [PLO 11].
PEO 3
Produce graduates who are able to demonstrate good interpersonal skills, communicate effectively [PLO 4 & PLO 5] and competently in problem solving and scientific skills [PLO 6 & PLO 7].
PEO 4
Produce graduates who are innovative and thrive to pursue continuous career development in related fields to fulfill their goals [PLO 9 & PLO 10].

PLO     Description
PLO 1 (Cluster 1)
Demonstrate fundamental knowledge in Medical Laboratory Technology (MLT).
PLO 2 (Cluster 2)
Identify technical errors, perform basic troubleshooting and related problem- solving procedures related to the medical laboratory.
PLO 3 (Cluster 3a)
Perform routine tests and assist in advanced medical laboratory procedures based on quality control, biosafety and chemical safety regulatory requirements competently according to Standard Operating Procedure (SOP).
PLO 4 (Cluster 3b)
Demonstrate sensitivities and responsibilities towards the community, culture, religion and environment.
PLO 5 (Cluster 3c)
Communicate effectively in verbal and written forms with peers, healthcare professionals and the stakeholders at large.
PLO 6 (Cluster 3d)
Demonstrate the ability to use digital technologies in empowering ICT as a medium of laboratory management system.
PLO 7 (Cluster 3e)
Formulate solutions in solving medical laboratory technical problems based on critical value and lateral thinking.

Demonstrate leadership and management skills to promote good medical laboratory practices and be able to collaborate effectively among healthcare professions.

Admission Requirements

FOR MALAYSIAN STUDENTS

Pass SPM/SPMV at least 5 Credits for the following subjects:

  1. Pass in Bahasa Melayu
  2. Pass in English Language
  3. Mathematics**
  4. Any 1 subject (Science/ Physic/ Biology/ Chemistry/ Basic Science or Applied Sciences)
  5. Any 3 other subjects (Include credit in Malay Language and/ English Language)
